We’re making insurance contracts easier to understand
Customers should be able to easily read and understand the insurance they buy – that’s the thinking behind Project Clarity.
We started this innovative project by listening and talking to our customers. We then studied traditional insurance contracts, and we spoke to contract design experts, and of course our own legal teams and regulators. We then started to rewrite our contracts. For example, removing unnecessary jargon; introducing colourful infographics to explain our products more easily; and writing things more clearly so you can be sure you know what you’re buying.
Project Clarity principles have now been applied to all our customer brochures. We’re also in the process of converting several existing contracts.
What does this mean for you?
Read your policy faster
We know that sometimes it’s not only easier but faster to explain things with a diagram or a quick list. So that’s exactly what we do.
Understand your benefits easier
We use simple language to ensure that you understand the benefits of each plan. We try not to use any unnecessary jargon. But if we have to use more technical language, then we make sure we explain it.
Giving you all the important information
We set out all the details of the cover included, as well as the things that are not. Plus we let you know about other important things – so you don’t need to wonder, or go searching in the small print.
What this means for you
We use colour, imagery and icons to create easy understanding.
We use descriptive examples. We promote clear definitions – and we don’t like insurance jargon any more than you do.
A straight-forward structure
Our terms and conditions are divided into two parts:
•General terms – which apply for all policies
•Specific terms for the individual product

We aim to become a leading pan-Asian insurer by changing the way people feel about insurance. We’re led by our customers (and it’s you) and driven by technology. This isn’t the way insurance usually feels. But we’re not your usual insurance company.
