FWD sponsors the first Vietnamese woman to participate The North Pole Marathon 2018

FWD Vietnam Life Insurance Company Ltd. (“FWD”) has announced their sponsorship for Ho Chi Minh local Tang Nguyet Minh to run in the North Pole Marathon , to be held on 09 April 2018.

Tang Nguyet Minh is a mother of two and an owner of a fashion boutique in Ho Chi Minh City. Being a strong and energetic woman, Tang Nguyet Minh found her passion for running after joining in a meaningful charitable run. She then completed her first full marathon of 42km at the Vietnam Mountain Marathon at Sapa in 2017 after just six months of training. With FWD's sponsorship, Minh will become the first Vietnamese woman to participate in the North Pole Marathon, one of the world's most challenging and physically demanding events.

Before the race, Minh said: "Through running, I feel my life becomes more colourful and fulfilling. I am very proud to be the first Vietnamese woman to participate the North Pole Marathon 2018. This is one of the biggest challenges of my life, but it is also a chance for me to test my own limits, fulfill my passion for running and most importantly, bring the Vietnam flag to such a unique, world-class marathon."

The North Pole Marathon is annually held in the northernmost area in the earth and is the world’s coolest marathon, offer extreme challenges and embrace the experience of a lifetime for participants. This is the second consecutive year that FWD Group has sponsored this marathon with the expectation of helping people pursue their aspirations without worries about potential issues that could arise, ignite their passion for life-enriching experiences.

Besides Ms. Minh in Vietnam, FWD Group also sponsors 9 runners from 5 other countries to participate the North Pole Marathon 2018. The FWD team runners will be supporting and fundraising for disabled charities which forms part of FWD community care focus of empowering people with disabilities across Asia. At FWD Group, individuals should have the opportunity to pursue their individual passions and live life without hesitation.

All participants will make a 10 day trip from April 2 to 12 to help them acclimatise and train in sub-zero temperatures in preparation of the harsh conditions of the North Pole. As part of FWD’s sponsorship of runners, each participant will receive a comprehensive health check tailored for athletes, as well as insurance cover which includes travel insurance and individual accidental insurance so runners can focus on preparing for running ‘on’ the frozen water of the Arctic Ocean in the northern most marathon on earth.
